I balked at buying the Bose, because I thought it was overpriced, and that probably all the manufacturers used the same generic digital signal processing chip. I've had two other inexpensive NC headsets, and thought they worked alright. The first non-Bose headset, I had two of, because the cables kept fraying and breaking. Can't remember the brand name anymore, but they were only about $35, so I thought, well, just my bad luck. Replaced them with inexpensive ($50) Sony headsets, and the Sony cables are durable, but the sound quality and cancellation wasn't quite as good, to my ears. Nevertheless, I kept the Sonys (and still have them), thinking again that Bose was just too darned expensive. Then I saw one day in the classroom that I work in, that there were several Bose QC25 headsets that the school had purchased, so I thought, hey, here's a chance to see if they're really worth all that money. The teacher let me borrow a pair, and as I left the school, I parked on the street, with my windows down, to listen to the car traffic go by, and try these out in an A/B test with the Sony NC headsets. Wow! It took me all of about 30 seconds to decide that they were worth the money. One of the reasons, perhaps, that they work so well, is that the headset completely covers my ear, and the Sony headsets did not have complete ear coverage. I've worn them for long periods of time, without discomfort, although if I wear them on the treadmill in the gym, they need to be wiped off from the perspiration on my head. My first A/B test with the Bose QC25 was to put it on, without plugging it into any device, and just switch the NC on and off, as cars and trucks passed by on the street. The results were simple: switched off, there was car noise; switched on, there was silence. I ordered a pair immediately, and have been happy with them ever since. They are great at cancelling droning noises, such as cars, or airplane engines, but not so good at nearby conversations. I do use them when working in a library, and they do a fair job of cancelling out the noisy kids at the next table, but not as profound as engine noise reduction. The big advantage I see to this model is that they use a single AAA battery, which lasts me about a week of listening to audiobooks, and the case has a holder for a spare battery. A rechargeable AAA battery works just fine, and the later model Bose headsets use some sort of proprietary non-replaceable battery, which in my view is a deal breaker. Your views about the bluetooth feature may make you think that the later Bose model would be better, but in my mind it's not, due to the many documented problems with bluetooth. These wired headsets just simply work, with anything that has a standard audio jack. The cable is not an inconvenience for me, and the easily replaceable AAA battery is a big plus. As for the cable, when I unpacked the box and saw it, my first thought was that if these expensive cables fray and break, I'm going to be out a bunch of money to replace them. Not true, you can buy generic replacement cables on Amazon, I did buy a couple, tried them, out, and tossed them into the drawer as backups, after finding that they worked just fine. I got two generic cables for less than the price of one Bose cable. My only advice as to these cables is this: they come in two flavors; one works only with Android and generic devices, and the other flavor works with Apple. Make sure you order the correct one for your device. I have used the Bose QC25 in place of my Plantronics bluetooth on my phone (android), and they work just fine, although legally I can't use them if I am driving, and must use my little hands-free earbud instead. They also work fine on my laptop, and a little generic MP3 player. The sound level is about the same in these headsets, with the power on or off, but they do sound a lot better with the power on. In short, spend the money, they're worth it.

Best Technology Purchase
I purchased these for my trip to Indonesia, a gruesome 30 hours flight and let me tell you this is probably one of my best technology purchase in 2017! PROS (+)The noise cancellation feature worked wonderfully to drown out any noise from the engine, but didn't really work on babies crying super loud. It couldn't block the noise completely, but it did make it more manageable and less annoying. (+)Very durable, I purchased this in December 2017 and I have been using them many times for 6 months now. So far so good! It still looks and feels brand new to me. (+)One of the best thing that I realized from using these on a very long flight was how comfortable these were! The cushion pads were comfortable as most headphones and I get into a bit of a tiff around the two-hour mark. They tend to squeeze my head but these doesn't do that. These headphones merely rest atop my head so it doesn't press on my skin. I can sleep with these on inside a plane. These are that comfy. (+)I use this together with my wife and she said that what she likes the most about these pairs is the fact that it doesn't catch her long hair, skin, or clothing ever! A huge plus for everyone with longer hair. (+)When I used the wire, I didn't have trouble with the controls. The wire were long enough to give enough room to move comfortably. (+)The case is compact, well organized and easy to store. It doesn't add much to your belongings, so perfect for carry-on. It feels well-made with high quality material CONS (-)It does look big and bulky but for all those awesome absolute silent nights these gave me while flying, I can live with that. (-)Like I said, didn't really work on babies crying super loud and kids screaming non-stop but it did make it manageable. All in all these are a great investment, especially if you can find them on sale!

Amo queste cuffie
E' vero, per la qualità del suono è meglio rivolgersi altrove, ma sono comunque delle cuffie che mediamente soddisferanno le esigenze di tutti (fuorché i più puri audiofili). Per praticità dividerò la recensione in aspetti positivi e aspetti negativi. Preciso subito che comunque non sono un audiofilo e baso la mia recensione sulla base della mia esperienza d'uso in quasi 3 mesi e mezzo di utilizzo. Ho aspettato appositamente a scrivere la recensione in modo tale da provare le cuffie in tutte le situazioni: a casa, in treno, in autobus, in aereo, in auto ecc.LeoAmo queste cuffie

ASPETTI POSITIVI
+ ottimo rapporto qualità-prezzo: ho acquistato queste BOSE QuietComfort 25 a 160 euro durante il Black Friday verso fine novembre 2018, vendute e spedite da Amazon con garanzia Amazon per almeno 2 anni dal momento dell'acquisto;
+ ergonomia di alto livello: le cuffie sono veramente molto comode e sono pensate per un utilizzo a lungo termine, infatti, anche dopo diverse ore di utilizzo continuato, non ho riscontrato alcun dolore alla testa, alle orecchie, ecc. Indosso gli occhiali durante il lavoro e queste cuffie non danno alcun tipo di fastidio e, anzi, si adattano perfettamente senza mai stringere la testa. Inoltre, posso dire che non mi hanno mai surriscaldato i lobi delle orecchie, anche se fino ad oggi le ho potute usare soltanto nei mesi autunnali e invernali...vedremo in primavera ed estate;
+ i materiali costruttivi sono di qualità e soprattutto sono ben assemblati, non traballano, non si sentono fruscii, scricchiolii e vibrazioni durante l'ascolto, risultano leggere da indossare ma al tempo stesso sono danno un senso di solidità e compattezza quando si impugnano e quando si tengono in testa. L'archetto è semplicemente perfetto;
+ fantastica longevità della batteria: la modalità di noise cancelling funziona inserendo la batteria nell'apposito spazio e attivando il sistema con il pulsante posto sul padiglione destro. La batteria Energizer non ricaricabile già inclusa nella confezione è durata molte più ore di quante sono stimate nella descrizione del prodotto (c'è scritto infatti che durano mediamente 25 ore, ma a me la batteria che era inclusa è durata per quasi 40 ore di utilizzo e l'ho sostituita con una batteria ricaricabile, una delle tante acquistabili su Amazon ad un ottimo prezzo);
+ sistema di noise cancelling: ho provato le QC35 e sinceramente non ho riscontrato grosse differenze nel sistema di noise cancelling, mi trovo benissimo con le QC25 che sono appunto il modello precedente senza Bluetooth ma che in modalità di cancellazione dei rumori possono essere utilizzate anche senza cavo se non si desidera ascoltare della musica o altri file audio. La riduzione del rumore delle QC25 è perfetta, le ho utilizzate in tutte le condizioni, in casa durante le pulizie con aspirapolvere, mentre lavo i piatti, pulisco i bagni, fino ad un paio di viaggi intercontinentali in aereo, trasferte in auto e tratte interregionali in treno...la riduzione è fantastica. Filtrano i rumori delle voci, anche se naturalmente indossando i padiglioni vengono attutite di molto e filtrano anche rumori come il suono dell'acqua che fuoriesce dal rubinetto del lavandino, ma che viene comunque attutito e se, insieme, si ascolta musica non si sente nemmeno più (questo vale anche per le voci, infatti se attiviamo il noise cancelling insieme all'ascolto di musica, anche tenendo un volume medio di ascolto, non sentiremo più le voci esterne). Sistema di cancellazione del rumore quindi promosso a pieni voti, in aereo ci si fa delle dormite fantastiche ed è compreso anche l'adattatore per utilizzarle in aereo.
+ buona qualità audio: come ho già avuto modo di scrivere sopra, mediamente la qualità audio accontenterà tutti. Ascolto praticamente ogni genere di musica e mi sono sempre trovato molto bene con l'ascolto. Il plus è ascoltare musica con il noise cancelling attivo che contribuisce ad isolare l'ascolto eliminando qualsiasi rumore in sottofondo. Avendo dei vicini rumorosi, utilizzo queste cuffie anche in casa collegandole alla televisione o ad altri apparecchi quando voglio isolarmi dai rumori esterni e dei vicini. Sono consapevole che per quanto riguarda la qualità, nel senso più puro del termine, queste cuffie non sono adatte per un audiofilo il quale però dovrebbe già sapere bene che queste non sono cuffie per audiofili, bensì per un target di utenti ben diverso, sicuramente più orientato ad unire l'utile del noise cancelling con un qualità di ascolto soddisfacente ma non certo per palati che cercano l'eccellenza in cuffia, per la quale bisogna spendere cifre ben più alte, cifre che peraltro io al momento non ritengo di voler spendere.
+ esteticamente sono cuffie molto belle, certo non hanno lo stesso impatto visivo delle Beats, ma sono due prodotti diversi e io sinceramente preferisco queste Bose QC25 e di gran lunga;
+ ho scelto la versione per Android, ma provandole con dispositivi Apple devo dire che funzionano ugualmente, l'unica differenza è che in quest'ultimo caso non funzioneranno i tastini di controllo posti sul filo delle cuffie per la regolazione del volume, cambio traccia audio, risposta alle chiamate ecc. Per il resto l'audio e il sistema di noise cancelling funzionano perfettamente sia su dispositivi Android come sui dispositivi Apple;
+ la custodia Bose permette di riporre le cuffie quando non si usano per lunghi periodi e consente di trasportarle facilmente in giro, senza contare che all'interno c'è uno spazio adatto per riporre una pila mini stilo (AAA) di riserva e l'adattatore per l'aereo. Sul retro della custodia c'è una tasca elastica per riporre ciò che si vuole tenere a portata di mano;
ASPETTI NEGATIVI
- l'unico vero aspetto negativo che ho rilevato è la grandezza della custodia che, per questo prezzo che comunque non è regalato, poteva essere leggermente più capiente per riporre meglio non le cuffie bensì il cavo delle cuffie. Infatti, le cuffie sono pieghevoli e compatte, si ripongono facilmente, ma poi bisogna anche inserire il cavo nella custodia e cercare di non rovinarlo e al tempo stesso cercare di riporlo senza che si graffino i padiglioni delle cuffie. E' certamente un dettaglio, il classico pelo nell'uovo, ma volendo trovare un difetto a queste cuffie direi che è questo, quindi un difetto di custodia più che di cuffie, sempre se di difetto si può parlare.
- la qualità audio non la considero un difetto in quanto queste sono cuffie di buona qualità anche sotto questo aspetto e secondo me un audiofilo dovrebbe saper riconoscere in partenza che queste non sono cuffie adatte per il suo utilizzo. Queste cuffie non costano poco ma svolgono il loro lavoro che è quello di consentire una buona esperienza di ascolto e al tempo stesso sfruttare la riduzione del rumore che è di realizzata veramente molto bene.
CONFRONTI
1) Confronto con Bose QC35: venendo al sodo direi che le QC25 differiscono dalle QC35 soltanto per quanto riguarda il Bluetooth. Infatti mentre le QC35 possono essere utilizzate con il Bluetooth, le QC25 possono essere utilizzate soltanto via cavo per l'ascolto della musica e anche senza cavo se si vuole usufruire soltanto del noise cancelling. Per il resto, la qualità audio è sostanzialmente la medesima e questo l'ho potuto confrontare abbondantemente, idem per quanto riguarda la comodità delle cuffie, infatti le forme e le dimensioni sono identiche. Fondamentalmente, oltre al Bluetooth, variano solo le colorazioni disponibili, il sistema di ricarica (infatti le QC35 funzionano ricaricando la batteria che non è estraibile come lo è invece nelle QC25) e, infine, per la possibilità di adattare il livello del sistema noise cancelling in base alle diverse situazioni ambientali regolandolo in tre modalità, da una di riduzione soft del rumore fino a quella più intensa. Sinceramente però la riduzione del rumore delle QC25 non ha nulla da invidiare al livello più intenso di riduzione del rumore previsto nelle QC35. In sostanza, quindi, se desiderate anche la modalità di funzionamento via Bluetooth e non vi interessa di avere la possibilità di estrarre e cambiare la batteria quando si scarica o ha problemi, allora potete optare per le Bose Qc35 che costano comunque considerevolmente di più, mentre invece se preferite poter gestire la batteria da soli e se usare le cuffie via cavo non è un fastidio, allora acquistando le Qc25 potrete avere un gran bel prodotto risparmiando anche dei soldi.
2) Confronto con SoundLink Around Ear II: anche in questo caso differisce la presenza del Bluetooth che manca invece nelle Qc25, ma per il resto le Qc25 non hanno nulla da invidiare a questo modello in quanto la qualità costruttiva mi ha convinto di più, infatti nelle SoundLink più volte sento degli scricchiolii mentre le indosso, non hanno la stessa comodità delle Qc25, hanno una qualità audio più bassa e la presenza del Bluetooth di certo non ne aumenta la qualità di ascolto, ma fornisce soltanto una possibilità di utilizzo diversa. Insomma se dovessi scegliere tra questi due modelli, ormai a parità di prezzo, sceglierei sicuramente le Qc25, per quanto le SoundLink possano essere un buon compromesso tra Qc25 e Qc35, seppur con meno qualità sia nel noise cancelling, sia nella qualità audio generale.
3) Confronto con Beats Solo 3: le ho potute confrontare prima e dopo l'acquisto con Beats Solo 3 le quali sono migliori soltanto per quanto riguarda la potenza dei bassi e l'estetica, ma in generale posso dire che le Bose QC25 sono tutt'oggi più comode se si indossano per molte ore di seguito, il noise cancelling fa la differenza in quanto le Solo 3 ne sono sprovviste, il suono è più equilibrato nelle Bose rispetto alle Beats che sono ancora più sbilanciate nonostante siano un modello più nuovo. Le Bose QC25 non hanno il Bluetooth e possono essere utilizzate soltanto via cavo per ascoltare musica, mentre le Beats possono essere usato con Bluetooth e anche via cavo, tra l'altro funzionano anche quando la batteria è scarica, a differenza delle Beats Studio 3.
4) Confronto con Sennheiser PXC 550: dico subito che le Qc25 sono molto più comode da indossare, sono più leggere e si adattano meglio alla testa. Inoltre, dopo diverse ore di ascolto le Qc25 sembra ancora di non averle quasi indossate, mentre invece le PXC 550 scaldano e ho dovuto toglierle a più riprese. In particolare, le PXC 550 non sono molto user friendly con i portatori di occhiali da vista o da sole. Certo, anche le PXC 550 hanno il Bluetooth che invece le Qc25 non possiedono, ma per il resto, anche per la qualità audio, ho trovato molto meglio le Qc25. Per quanto le Sennheiser PXC 550 siano indiscutibilmente un buon prodotto, tuttavia, a mio modesto parere, non c'è paragone con le Qc25 e Qc35 che risultano più comode da indossare, più leggere, meglio assemblate e con una qualità audio migliore. Il noise cancelling tanto decantato per queste Sennheiser, l'ho trovato invece più spento rispetto ai due modelli di Bose.
IN CONCLUSIONE
Cercavo delle cuffie di buona qualità con un'ottima riduzione del rumore e senza il Bluetooth, magari anche con la batteria intercambiabile. Inutile dire che le Bose QuietComfort 25 erano il prodotto perfetto per ciò che stavo cercando e non hanno deluso le mie aspettative perché prima di acquistarle ho avuto la possibilità di provarle a lungo. Il Bluetooth può tornare sicuramente utile a molti, ma io sinceramente invece non lo utilizzo con le cuffie e il cavo delle Bose Qc25 è lungo a sufficienza per non creare alcun genere di fastidi anche quando si utilizzano le cuffie in movimento e in viaggio. Se dovessi acquistare ancora delle cuffie sceglierei ancora queste Bose, un ottimo compromesso tra prezzo, buona qualità audio, ottimo noise cancelling ed eccezionale comodità dopo molte ore di utilizzo anche per chi indossa gli occhiali. Lascio qualche foto e spero di essere stato utile.
